FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Santa Barbara, CA — 16 March 2009
JM Holliday Associates selected to design new 6,500 SF corporate
Office Building in Santa Barbara, CA
JM. Holliday Associates Architects have been selected by Figueroa Investors LLC to design a new
6,500 SF Corporate Office Building in Santa Barbara, CA. The new facility will be located at 201
East Figueroa Ave and will replace the existing single story building on the site. Negotiations are
currently in progress with several interested parties who plan to occupy the building and tenant
improvements will be custom designed to accommodate interior requirements. Michael Holliday
AIA is the Principal Architect in charge of the project and Michelle Swanitz is the Project Manager.
This new building will be designed within the traditional Spanish Colonial Revival architectural style
and will significantly enhance and improve the street front presence of the existing structure. The
new offices will include many GREEN and SUSTAINABLE design features including natural daylighting
of interior office spaces, high efficiency mechanical and electrical systems, low flow toilets
and water conserving fixtures, low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) paints finishes and
adhesives, a green cool roof system and energy conserving features which will exceed Title 24
energy efficiency requirements. The exterior landscape is proposed to be of drought tolerant
planting materials and includes onsite bio-swales to filter and reduce storm water runoff from the
new structure. The project is also proposed to meet BUILT GREEN standards for construction.
The Landscape Architect for the project is Arcadia Studios of Santa Barbara.

TO ALL BUSINESSES IN THE CITY OF SANTA BARBARA: — 9 April 2009
NEW TRASH AND RECYCLING RATES ARE BEING CONSIDERED
The City of Santa Barbara is considering changes to business rates for trash, recycling and greenwaste; and to provide new rates for the collection and composting of foodscraps. If approved, the new rates will become effective in late summer or early fall. The new rates have been designed to accomplish three primary goals:
Provide greater opportunities for businesses to save money by recycling more.
Establish new rates for a new foodscraps collection and composting program
Make monthly bills easier to understand
A web page is now available at SBrecycles.org and offers an online calculator that allows businesses to calculate how these new rates would affect their monthly trash and recycling bills.
There is also a new Foodscraps Collection and Composting page that describes the details of this new program.
The City will also present information at four public meetings, two for restaurants and other foodserving businesses (with a focus on the foodscraps program), and two for all businesses.
Food-Serving Businesses (including hospitals and schools):
Monday, April 20th at 9:00 a.m. at the Downtown Library and
Tuesday, May 19th at 9:00 a.m. at the City Public Works Building
All Businesses:
Tuesday, April 28th, at 8:00 a.m. at the at the Downtown Library and
Thursday, May 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the City Public Works Building
City staff will present the proposed changes, answer questions, and allow the business community to provide feedback. Meetings will take place at the Main Library in the Faulkner
Gallery (40 E Anapamu St ) or at the Public Works Building in the David Gebhard Public Meeting Room (630 Garden Street)
